Live at the Ritz 

Since its Grand Opening in October, 2007, the Wellington Ritz Theatre has offered a wide variety of live performances, bringing superior talent in classical music, folk music, Broadway tunes, and much more.

This dedication to top quality entertainment has been recognized throughout the area.  In April, 2008, the Wellington Ritz Theatre received the prestigious “Special Award” at the annual Golden Nail Awards Gala in Amarillo.

    The Ritz is bringing the stars to the Panhandle of Texas this fall through our "Live at the Ritz" Sunday Concert Series.

    The grandeur of our restored 1928 mission-style picture palace is the perfect setting to flood your senses with the best opera, classical music, folk music, and more.

  • South Plains Dance Orchestra, "A Tribute to Glenn Miller"

    2009-2010 Sunday Concert Series

    The South Plains Dance Orchestra will play your favorite music of the great dance bands from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s.   The audience will be tapping their toes and enjoying familiar big band music, as well as Broadway tunes and Dixieland Jazz.  Filled with the music you know and love, the show will have you dancing in the aisles!

  • "Godspell" Amarillo Lamplight Youth Theatre

    2009-2010 Sunday Concert Series

     Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), "Godspell" boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day." As the cast performs "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life. "Godspell" is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love.

Past Events

Every seat in the Ritz Theatre was filled at the opening gala for the Amarillo Little Theatre production of “Sweet Dreams, Peggy Sue”. 

The popular Michael Martin Murphy was another sell-out performance on the “Live at the Ritz”schedule. 2008 started with a bang. The talented Payton Kane and friends, provided and outstanding New Years Eve performance.  Other marvelous concerts in 2008 have included Asleep at the Wheel, The Sidekicks (with special guest Ginny Mac, Ashley Wheeler, and Payton Kane), and Stoney LaRue.

The inaugural season of the Sunday Afternoon Concert Series at the Ritz was a success featuring classical performances of opera, a string orchestra, and a piano concert. At Christmas time, all ages enjoyed a fun choral show.  In the spring, the audience was delighted to experience a dance orchestra playing Dixieland Jazz and big band music from the 1930’s to the 1950’s.
